Xiaomi officially unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max on September 23, 2026, during its Autumn New Product Launch Event in China, alongside the standard Xiaomi 18 Pro.
The phone made its debut as one of the first devices powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, positioning it as a performance-focused flagship.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max centers on a massive 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED primary display with a 2624 x 1208 resolution, a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, and up to 4,000 nits peak brightness.
Like its predecessor, it retains a 2.9-inch rear AMOLED screen (976 x 596, 120Hz, 4,000 nits), but Xiaomi expanded its functionality with AI-driven mini apps, custom widgets, and a convenient viewfinder for the rear cameras.
A standout new feature is the hardware-level Privacy Display, which restricts viewing angles to prevent onlookers from reading the screen. The feature was first seen on Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, but now its refined.
It can be triggered automatically via location or front-camera detection, and even blocks notifications and split-view windows when active.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 pairs with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The camera system is equally ambitious: a 200MP main sensor (f/1.7), a 200MP periscope telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom (f/2.4), and a 50MP ultrawide (f/2.4, 102° FOV), plus a 50MP front camera.
Powering it all is a colossal 8,500mAh battery—a 13% increase over the previous generation—with support for 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 27W reverse wireless charging.
The device runs Android 17 with HyperOS 4, carries IP69 ingress protection, and measures 163.39 x 77.6 x 8.47mm at 240 grams.
Pricing in China starts at 5,999 CNY (around $900) for the base model, with a global launch confirmed for later in 2026.
